CALL THE ZOO!

Fun fact, we both love animals.  So during the June 2015 visit we HAD to go to a zoo so we chose Roger Williams Park Zoo in Rhode Island.   After Babs (our GPS) directed us through some sketchy neighborhoods where we’re pretty sure we saw a car chop shop and a concrete nightclub with bars on the windows, we made finally made it.  The weather report called for low 70’s with clouds, perfect for zoo roaming…however, the forecast was wrong and it was sunny and mid-80’s.

I’d follow her anywhere, but today it was through the paths to all the animals.DSC_0080Despite the heat, we had an amazing time seeing our favorites, not so favorites (including walking through a bat cave), and some strange looking creatures.  Some animals were happy to see us, some not so much, and others simply could not have cared less.

These guys were otterly adorable…even if they made taking pictures difficult.  (there you go with those “dad jokes”)DSC_0152 DSC_0156

We started out wild journey here with the zebra and random rocks.  DSC_0075 DSC_0081

Then the elephants and giraffes (no giraffe pictures because apparently they were just all of their butts) -no commentDSC_0088 DSC_0086

This guy was too cool for the zoo.  He just looked unamused and bored like he could not care less about anything.DSC_0109

I have more pictures of these anteaters than I should admit.  I have never seen them in real life before and they made me laugh.

About to take the picture and this green tree boa opened his mouth for us.  (Great picture, still scared of him.  I was waiting for the glass to disappear so he could escape)

The first little monkey is the smallest species (except his ummmm….) and the second one was not happy to have his picture taken and made some threatening gestures.

Seriously…what the heck is this thing?

One of the animals we were looking forward to seeing the most, the red panda.  This little guy was just hanging out in shade.

Another snake (I’m so mean), but this rattlesnake did not like the camera and kept coiling and lunging making it hard to get a clear shotDSC_0173

Standing looking out at the water we hear a little commotion behind us and this mother and her kids just burst on through.

The view was pretty, but I think Kerensa made it beautifulDSC_0196

The gift shop really “gets” us.
